Description

This sophisticated mahogany cabinet on stand presents a refined architectural silhouette, drawing heavily from the classic designs of Thomas Chippendale. The most eye-catching feature is the intricate geometric astragal glazing to the twin doors, which creates a series of rectangular frames that provide a structured and elegant backdrop for displaying fine porcelain or collectibles.

Constructed in two distinct sections, the glazed upper carcase sits securely upon a functional base unit. This lower section is configured with two side-by-side drawers, each expertly joined with traditional dovetails for lasting durability. The entire piece is elevated by four graceful cabriole legs that terminate in traditional pad feet, providing a sense of lightness and height to the substantial frame.

The mahogany timber is finished in a deep, lustrous flame-red tone that beautifully showcases the dense and varied grain patterns of the wood. The drawers are fitted with original decorative brass drop handles and matching escutcheons, which have developed a soft, aged lustre that perfectly complements the rich patina of the hand-polished surfaces.
